Accessibility
Draft for review by NEXA Mortgage and RE/MAX compliance before launch.
We want HomesCalculator.com to be usable by everyone. The site is designed to work with screen readers and keyboard navigation, with readable text, clear contrast and large touch targets on phones.
Accessibility options on every page
Select the accessibility button at the top of any page (a circle with a person in it, next to the globe). It opens these options:
- Read aloud: the page is read to you, top to bottom, with the part being read highlighted. You can pause, continue or stop at any time. This uses the speech built into your browser, so nothing is installed and nothing is recorded.
- Text size: make everything bigger (up to 175%) or back to normal.
- High contrast: black text on white with stronger borders.
- Underline all links, so they're easy to spot.
- Wider spacing between lines and letters, which many people with dyslexia find easier to read.
- Stop animations.
Your choices are remembered on your device for your next visit. "Reset all" puts everything back to normal.
Using a screen reader?
If you're blind or have low vision and already use a screen reader (such as VoiceOver on iPhone and Mac, TalkBack on Android, or NVDA or JAWS on Windows), keep using it: the site is built with proper headings, labels and descriptions so it works with them. The read-aloud button is there for anyone who simply prefers to listen.
Other languages
Select the globe at the top of any page to read the site in Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole and many other languages (automatic translation by Google, which may not be perfect).
